Dipped in rich Belgian chocolate, Maite Zubia's Classic Alfajores (al-fa-hor-es) are anything but classic. Maite first bakes the buttery, delicate shortbread-like cookies then fills them with her decadent caramel-like Dulce de Leche, made with local ingredients. Unlike caramel, which is made by heating sugar, Dulce de Leche is prepared by heating sweetened milk. The process is simple but takes a few hours.
This box includes 12 alfajores coated with Callebaut Dark Chocolate. Each cookie is beautifully wrapped in black paper, sealed with a label, and nestled in a windowed, corrugated cardboard box, tied with a ribbon—an interesting, delicious gift for any occasion.
Shelf Life: About 8 weeks. Keep cool but not refrigerated.
